Senior Operations Analyst - Lithium Spot Desk

Albemarle is investing in growing its lithium business to support the demand from the energy storage industry. As an operations analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Pricing Organization by managing the spot desk sales transactions and price reporting. You will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the sales data and generate reports on market prices and trends. You will also collaborate with other back-office teams such as finance, risk, and compliance to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations. This position will report to the Global Product Pricing Manager, Energy Storage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to Pricing Organization’s primary initiatives: price discovery, price realization, and risk mitigation.

  • Execute routine pricing activities under defined guidelines including price discovery bidding events and streamlined price data management.

  • Perform spot desk sales by executing orders, confirming prices, and settling transactions under defined guidelines.

  • Manage spot desk sales transactions by verifying the counterparties, agreements, purchase orders, payments, and deliveries.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of the prices. Provide support and training to the spot desk on the price reporting system and processes.

  • Communicate and collaborate with business, sales, and customer service to maintain alignment, execute transactions, exchange intelligence on the sales performance and market dynamics impacting the price initiatives.

  • Prepare and maintain various pricing reports and provide insights and analysis to the management and commercial teams.

  • Collaborate with other back-office teams such as supply chain, master data, and finance.

  • Follow guidelines from legal, risk, and compliance to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.

  • Identify and resolve any issues in the sales transactions, spot desk trades, or price reports and escalate to the appropriate parties.

  • Utilize, maintain, and update the back-office systems and databases including SAP and Salesforce.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin.

  • At least two years of experience in a back office, operations, price reporting, or a similar role in the financial services or commodities industry.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook, and other back-office software (SAP, Salesforce) and tools.

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and quality; Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask.

  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory requirements.
