Job Description

Albemarle is seeking an experienced HR Manager to support the leaders and employees of our growing Specialties Global Business Unit (GBU). This position will be located at our largest U.S. Manufacturing site in Magnolia, AR and play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and productive work environment for over 500 employees.

Reporting to the HR Director for Specialties Operations, The HR Site Leader for Magnolia will provide strategic and day-to-day human resources business partner support for 500+ manufacturing, Research & Technology and Capital Projects employees, both hourly and salaried. This role is a critical member of the plant leadership team responsible for supporting the strategy and priorities, driving a culture of inclusion, with focus on employee attraction, retention, and development. Operating within a matrixed environment, this role will collaborate closely with Corporate HR Centers of Excellence and the Specialties HR Team to deliver comprehensive HR solutions that support the needs of our dynamic workforce.

Candidates must have strong collaboration skills and be comfortable working with ambiguity in a demanding, fast paced, results oriented environment. The successful candidate will have the experience and presence to effectively handle conflicting business demands and sensitive HR issues in a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted partnerships with the site leadership teams by coaching and building their leadership capability to improve performance, manage change, and assist with the growth projections of the business.

  • Develop and implement the optimal people and talent strategy that is both aligned to the Specialties GBU overall talent strategy and unique to site needs in order to drive business results at the site. Provide analysis and recommendations in such areas as strategic workforce planning, organizational assessment, organizational structure, and change management.

  • Partner and consult with site leadership to develop an inclusive work environment, effect culture change, and produce working conditions that maximize human potential and deliver results in productivity, profitability, and job satisfaction.

  • Lead and participate in ad-hoc HR projects and initiatives, which will change and vary over time. These may include talent management, diversity & inclusion, workforce planning, training programs, people data and analytics, compensation, recognition, talent acquisition and retention.

  • Coach leaders and managers on developing their talent and teams to help build up our people and talent pipeline. Support employee growth by leading and supporting initiatives such as entry level talent programs, talent reviews, the people development process and learning and development.

  • Advise business leaders on how to resolve issues/problems and conduct root cause analysis when issues arise to put in place preventative measures.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education

  • 5-7 years of HR Business Partner and leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.

  • PHR, or SPHR certificate and/or Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience supporting complex manufacturing sites and implementing corporate driven HR strategies and initiatives at the site.

  • Demonstrated expertise in coaching leaders and managers on building talent, engaging teams, driving culture change and strategic growth of businesses and organizations.

  • Ability to manage heavy workload and find the correct balance between demand and capacity when establishing priorities for the organization, which may sometimes be changing.

  • Demonstrated success in creating an environment of trust with business partners where integrity is unquestioned.

  • Ability to make good decisions, including exhibiting sound and accurate judgment. Such as including appropriate employees and management members in the decision-making process in a timely fashion and identifying when issues should be escalated to senior management.

  • Collaborative, thoughtful HR leader who sees the big picture and is comfortable getting into the details (can operationalize a strategy).

  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills at all levels of the organization, from engaging with senior business leaders to hourly operations employees.

  • Trusts & empowers HR team with the ability to coach, mentor, and grow to next level leaders in the HR function.

  • An analytic mindset, using data to inform and influence outcomes.

  • Ability to respond to changing business conditions, execute strategy, and anticipate customer requirements.

  • Excellent collaboration, project management, organizational and change agent skills.

  • Strong knowledge of all areas of HR including but not limited to: compensation, staffing, all regulatory employment laws that apply, employee relations, EEO/AAP, and safety.

  • Ability to travel as needed (20%)
